Recently the TPU hosted the National Teen Parent Unit Netball Tournament. Teams came from as far away as Gisborne, Stratford, Levin, Napier, Tawa, and Upper Hutt.
The night before we held a powhiri to welcome guest teams. It was a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy some local entertainment by Wairarapa Ki Uta Ki Tai Kapahaka Group and Makoura's Poly group, as well as sharing a hangi prepared by the TPU students and cooked by the Kerehi family.
Game day was August 21st and was held at the Colombo Road Courts, a great venue for such an event. Seven teams competed with Wairarapa TPU winning three games and then playing in the final against Heretaunga TPU, who won the game by 5 points 19-14, taking home the trophy.
This was part of TPU's PBL, which involved students participating in the various groups it took to organize this event such as Hospitality, Kai, Budgeting and Health and Safety.
Overall this was a very successful and enjoyable event, that all students had a part in bringing it to fruition. Thanks again to the members of our local community who helped us achieve our project. Well done TPU!
Great team effort and great experience of event management.
